About ANTONIA
I'm a Spanish/ ESL teacher and I have a MA in Applied Linguistics and Literature. Over the past ten years, I have designed and taught Spanish and English language classes, and I have experienced teaching students from many different cultural and language backgrounds, including a variety of foreign students and students who possess a wide range of abilities. Besides, I've been teaching in different countries as Spain, UK, China, Texas and Colorado. I have always been passionate about teaching, and I bring that energy into the classroom, encouraging my students to see each step of the language learning process as a dynamic way to develop their ideas as to express their individual strengths.

I use a variety of teaching methods and approaches to accommodate a wide variety of learning styles and to meet the goals of the program being taught. However, when appropriate, emphasis is given to PBLL, Project Based Learning Language approach. I aim to design a curriculum and activities that encourage creative teaching approaches developed collaboratively with other teachers, and that allow students have an intrinsic motivation for learning and that let them shape content to their own ends and to co-construct meanings that are unpredictable and personal. I endeavor to make the learning process meaningful and to consider the students’ values, experiences, relationships, prior knowledge but also their voices, their opinions on the learning process, by promoting curiosity, creativity, high order thinking skills and inquiry. I also believe it is integral that they are challenged to know how to learn and actively participate. Thus, I embed language learning strategies into course materials and I strongly encourage active participation of every single student. I feel it’s important to convey personal interest, passion and enthusiasm for L2 acquisition as I’m a L2 learner myself.
