About Jack
I am an accomplished, energetic and focused educator who is committed to bettering attainment and inspiring students with unconventional methods. I have experience working with students at all ability levels but especially for those currently struggling or lacking motivation, or those who feel they are not being adequately stretched and challenged within school. I joined King's College London Mathematics School, the highest performing state school in the UK, after graduating. I worked there as a resident mathematician to help struggling students catch up quickly through 1-1 sessions, and also taught many classes through the Outreach programmes such as MEMSE and GCSE+ for free school meals children of all ages and abilities, and continued to prepare students for entrance exams in partnership with KCL. I then trained for my PGCE in KCLMS, having full responsibility for classes full of students that required expertise far beyond the national curriculum whilst also keeping up with my Outreach work. I had a half term in Oasis Southbank Academy teaching much larger classes with a wider range of attainments, motivating them to succeed and see the beauty in mathematics. I have worked as a peer tutor to first year Imperial students in my Masters year over Teams, and as a mentor to Y12 students for entrance exams for MEI and KCL. I have experience interviewing many students for admission to KCLMS and often help younger cousins with maths online also, making me very experienced in online teaching. I am now looking to tutor full-time so I may share my passion for mathematics and help others achieve their desired results.

Fully qualified teacher and experienced mathematicians with over 100 hours 1-1 tutoring sessions at many different ability levels. Trained at highest scoring public sixth form in the country, where I use student led lessons to teach and motivate students. Vast knowledge of mathematics and its uses within the real world, able to raise anyone's interest in mathematics, and push any students far beyond the curriculum. First lesson will be assessing student's ability and interests in maths, before filling in gaps in knowledge. Further lessons will be going over set homeworks and learning new topics through unconventional introductions and real-life examples. I believe in heavy Sоcrаtic questiоning and catalysing conversations between the student and tutor, а technique thаt allows students to discover solutions and concepts themselves so they feel involved in their own learning and hence develop a greater passion for and understanding & recall of the material.

Perfect! I am an A-level student A-A* range doing Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I have little experience with tutors. I found that Jack was able to point me to the most effective next steps in my studies of Further Maths. He is highly competent and clearly enjoys spreading a love for Mathematics.

Jack completed teacher training at our school, and I was involved as a classroom mentor, assisting the PGCE coordinator with lesson observation feedback. I am the Head of Physics and Mechanics, teaching both Physics and Mathematics at KCLMS where Jack was for two years.
Jack has a huge enthusiasm for maths. He knows lots of fun puzzles, and always wants to push the content further. Students would often stay behind after lessons or in breaktime discussing ideas with him.
Jack is also highly effective at communicating ideas. He has a strong grasp of all mathematics, including the trickiest Further Maths content, but is always able to transmit to students at a level that they understand. He is also very creative as we used to share the same teaching strand and plan together, sometimes combining simultaneous classes into a double class for revision lessons.
Jack is caring, and listens to students. He was an effective form tutor for 2 years.
Jack is hardworking, and can be relied upon to get admin done effectively and thoroughly.
Jack is an outstanding teacher. A real natural. Highly recommended.View more recommendations
