Provided speech-language and dyslexia services and special education advocacy. Offered free trainings to parents and professionals interested in understanding dyslexia. Worked as a contractor with Easter Seals and provided in-home services for the birth to three population with communication difficulties.
Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist August 2006 – July 2013
Douglas County School District, Nevada
Served students with mild-profound disabilities at two elementary schools and two high schools. Trained to be an instructional consultation facilitator, served on the Nevada Telepractice Coalition, and was a member of the assistive technology team for the district. Provided trainings for all the reading teacher/specialists and kindergarten teachers within the district, as well as three staffs in the following areas; dyslexia, phonological awareness/phonics, auditory processing and learning styles.
Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist August 1999 – June 2006
Santa Clara Unified School District, California
Evaluated and provided speech and language services to children with various disorders. Collaborated and consulted with teachers in a
full-inclusion school district. Act as case manager in evaluating and providing services to children with autistic spectrum disorders.
Designed phonological awareness program and provided trainings to staff. Provided trainings to parents (members of a group called Mujer Latina) about learning English as a second language and language stimulation. Member of multidisciplinary preschool assessment team.
