About Stephanie

I’m a qualified UK primary teacher currently based in New Zealand, with over 8 years of classroom experience across England, Australia, and NZ.

I specialise in helping children develop strong foundations in reading, writing, and spelling through a structured literacy approach (explicit, systematic, and sequential teaching). My sessions are fun, supportive, and tailored to your child’s level — building both skill and confidence step by step.

I’ve been trained in a wide range of respected literacy programmes, including Read Write Inc, The Code, Writers Toolbox, and Little Learners Love Literacy. I also draw on approaches like synthetic phonics and the Science of Reading, ensuring everything I teach is evidence-based and effective.

Whether your child needs support to catch up, extend their learning, or simply grow in confidence, I’ll provide personalised lessons that meet their needs.

About the lesson

Each lesson is tailored to your child’s needs, strengths, and goals. In our first 30-minute session, I’ll take time to get to know your family and your child, then complete a short literacy assessment. This helps me personalise the tutoring sessions so they are targeted, supportive, and effective.

A typical lesson includes:
-Structured literacy activities – phonics, reading, spelling, and writing
-Engaging tasks – fun, interactive exercises to keep your child motivated
-Confidence building – step-by-step support at the right pace for them

I adapt every lesson as your child progresses, making sure they feel supported and challenged. I also provide free, high-quality online materials so they can practise between sessions and keep building momentum.

I also offer small group tutoring (max 4 students) at a reduced rate of $25 per child per session. This is a great option for families who want affordable tutoring and children who enjoy learning alongside peers.
