About Kazim

Hi! I’m a second-year dental student currently studying in Bulgaria. Before starting university, I worked as an online tutor for both GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry, using platforms like SuperProf and TutorHunt.

Biology is a subject I’ve always been passionate about — especially human biology, which I now study in-depth as part of my dental degree. I know how overwhelming the content can feel at times, but I’m here to help you break it down and truly understand it.

My goal is to make Biology feel less like memorising a textbook and more like telling a story that actually makes sense.

Lessons are fully online and tailored around you. Whether you need help understanding tricky concepts, tackling past papers, or just building confidence, I’ll adapt each session to suit your learning style and goals.

I focus on active learning — asking the right questions, explaining things clearly, and creating a space where you’re comfortable making mistakes and asking anything.

I tutor both GCSE and A-Level Biology (AQA, Edexcel, OCR), and I’m happy to adjust my teaching to fit your specific exam board.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I first developed an interest in science during my GCSEs, when I realised how much I enjoyed understanding the “why” behind everyday phenomena. As I continued into A Levels, this passion grew, and I decided to study Dentistry at university. Along the way, I began tutoring Biology and Chemistry online, and I discovered how rewarding it is to help others build confidence in a subject that many initially find intimidating. Tutoring allowed me to combine my love of science with my enjoyment of explaining ideas clearly and making learning more approachable.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I mainly teach Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A Level. In Biology, I particularly enjoy topics like physiology, genetics, and cell biology because they link directly to real-life applications in healthcare and research. In Chemistry, I love organic chemistry as it challenges students to think logically and spot patterns. The more abstract parts, such as certain physical chemistry calculations, can be trickier to explain, but I enjoy finding creative ways to simplify them so students don’t feel overwhelmed.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes — I had a Biology teacher at school who was incredibly passionate about the subject. She didn’t just teach the syllabus, but also encouraged us to think critically, ask questions, and see science as a way of understanding the world rather than just passing an exam. Her enthusiasm and support really shaped my own approach to learning and inspired me to share that same encouragement with my students.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs patience, empathy, and strong communication skills. Every student learns differently, so it’s important to adapt your teaching style to their needs. A tutor should also be encouraging and positive, helping students believe in their abilities and build confidence over time. Finally, organisation and subject knowledge are essential so that lessons are structured, clear, and effective.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of my favourite tutoring moments was working with a student who had been predicted a failing grade in Chemistry. She lacked confidence and thought the subject was “too hard.” Over a few months, we worked together on breaking down topics into simpler steps, practicing past papers, and developing exam technique. Her confidence grew, and she ended up achieving a grade she once thought was impossible. That experience reminded me that with the right guidance and mindset, students can often achieve much more than they expect.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

For me, the biggest challenge was initially exam pressure — not the content itself, but learning how to approach questions in the right way. Science exams often test application of knowledge rather than just memorisation, so I had to train myself to analyse questions carefully and practise applying concepts in unfamiliar contexts. This challenge actually made me a better tutor, because I can now pass on practical strategies that I know really work in overcoming exam stress.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I have a passion for both science and education. I enjoy exploring the human body through my Dentistry studies, but equally, I love helping others discover the excitement of learning. Teaching is rewarding because it combines knowledge-sharing with personal growth — seeing a student go from struggling to thriving is incredibly fulfilling. Outside of academics, I also enjoy reading, fitness, and keeping up with developments in healthcare and science communication.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)?

I believe what makes me a Superprof is my commitment to helping students succeed not just academically, but also in building self-confidence. I take time to understand each student’s individual goals and challenges, and I adapt my teaching style to fit them. I focus on making lessons engaging, structured, and supportive, while always encouraging students to ask questions and think for themselves. For me, tutoring is not just about passing exams, but about inspiring curiosity and helping students realise their potential.
