About Junaid
I’m Junaid Pieters, a current BSc Electrical Engineering student at the University of Cape Town, with a passion for both engineering and education. Growing up, I always found joy in understanding how things worked, especially in the fields of mathematics and science. This curiosity led me to pursue electrical engineering, where I continue to learn and apply complex concepts daily. But beyond my studies, I have a deep appreciation for the power of teaching. I understand how challenging learning new concepts can be, and I’m committed to making that process easier, more enjoyable, and rewarding. My journey as a former Teacher Assistant at Venus Primary School and my technical training at CPUT has shown me the value of a patient and practical approach to education. I want to help students not only understand difficult topics but also gain the confidence to excel. I believe that everyone learns differently, and my goal is to adapt to each student’s unique needs. By making abstract ideas more relatable through real-world examples, I strive to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, exploring topics, and growing their understanding. My aim is to inspire a love for learning, empower my students, and help them achieve their academic goals, whether it’s mastering high school math and science or tackling university-level engineering problems. I teach because I truly care about your success. The moments when my students grasp a challenging concept or solve a tough problem are incredibly rewarding for me. It’s not just about teaching facts and formulas—it’s about equipping students with the tools and confidence they need to succeed, both in their studies and beyond.

As a dedicated Electrical Engineering student at the University of Cape Town, I offer private tutoring in Mathematics, Physical Science, and Calculus, tailored to high school and early university-level students.
My Approach & Methodology:
I believe in making complex concepts simple through relatable examples and visual explanations. My tutoring style focuses on building a solid foundation, developing problem-solving skills, and helping students understand the "why" behind the formulas—not just memorizing them. I tailor each lesson to suit the student’s learning pace and style, fostering confidence and independence.
What Makes Me Unique:
Being a current engineering student, I’ve recently mastered the same material many students struggle with. I bring a fresh, relatable perspective to learning and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Languages:
I am proficient in both English and Afrikaans, and I am happy to tutor in either language depending on the student’s preference.
What to Expect in a Lesson:
A typical session includes a quick review of previous content, focused work on current topics, step-by-step problem-solving, and exam-style practice. I also provide optional worksheets and tips for independent study. Lessons are interactive and paced to meet the student’s needs.
Who I Tutor:
My lessons are ideal for:
High school learners (Grades 10–12) needing help in Maths and Physical Science
First-year university students struggling with Calculus or foundational Engineering Mathematics
Students preparing for tests, exams, or university entry assessments
Whether you're catching up, preparing for finals, or aiming to boost your marks, I’m here to help you achieve your goals.
