About Tommy
Hello there! My name is Tommy (he/him), I'm 22 years old, and I'm currently in my senior year of college pursuing a Bachelor's degree in English. I'm finishing up my degree this semester with a course in which I polish up my poetry manuscript which I worked on over the summer when I received a grant from my school to do so. I started tutoring in my university's Writing Center, and I've found that I love helping students recognize their strengths and improve on their writing skills. I also have experience working with a younger demographic, as I am also a middle school student teacher. I focus on creating lessons which accommodate every student's individual learning needs so that they are able to succeed in the classroom. I also have my certification to teach ELL (English Language Learner) students.

I like to teach with a hands-on and collaborate approach, including you in the conversation so that you are able to generate your own knowledge rather than myself telling it to you. In other words, I am actually not talking for very much of the time because I encourage YOU to show me your learning. I can adapt quickly to your individual learning needs and create lessons that accommodate those so that you can succeed according to where you are in your learning. I can create lessons for a range of demographics, including middle school, high school, and college level. My lessons are for the English curriculum, but we can go into specifics such as social issues, allegories, poetry, persuasive writing, technical writing-- You name it!
