About Matt

I studied History at A-level (A*) and now read History at the University of Bristol, where I’ve developed strong analytical, argumentative and essay-writing skills. History is not just about memorising facts — it’s about understanding why events happened, weighing up different interpretations, and constructing clear, persuasive arguments.

I help students move beyond simply describing events to analysing them effectively, which is what examiners are really looking for at GCSE and A-level. Whether it’s structuring essays, improving source analysis, building stronger evaluations, or revising content in a manageable way, I focus on helping students think critically and write with clarity and confidence.

I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique — how to plan under time pressure, how to hit assessment objectives, and how to consistently reach the top bands. My aim is to make History feel logical, structured and approachable, even when the content feels overwhelming.

About the lesson

Hour-long, tailored online lessons designed to strengthen historical knowledge, essay writing, and analytical skills. Sessions are adapted to each student’s needs — whether that’s mastering key content, improving source analysis, structuring high-level essays, or refining exam technique.

I achieved a Grade 9 at GCSE History and an A* at A-level, and I now study BA History at the University of Bristol. I understand what examiners are looking for at both GCSE and A-level, and I focus on helping students move into the top mark bands with clear, structured and confident answers.

Lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-level students of all abilities — whether you're aiming to secure a strong pass, push towards the highest grades, or build confidence with essay writing and revision strategy.
