About Amy
I am a South African who recently immigrated to the country and wants the opportunity to work with the youth here. I am incredibly inspired by young people and I love to watch them learn and grow, especially in their appreciation of the subject matter of my content. I am 25 years old and relatively fresh out of university, so I still feel very connected to children and teenagers, and teaching them about something I love and encouraging and watching them harness and improve upon a particular skill brings me great satisfaction.

I have wanted to be an English teacher my whole life. The language and the literature produced by it are the driving forces of my life and career. I approach teaching it with the goal of instilling in a student some sort of appreciation for the weight of words and the contours of the emotional connections they draw between people and the world around them. I believe that in kindling such an appreciation, no matter in what sense, something will stand out to a student and encourage them to press forward in their discovery of language for hope of what may further be revealed to them. Every book has its reader, in the same way that every student finds a piece they connect with. I focus on drawing those connections and using them to map out further possibilities as they continue studying the language.
