About Samuel
Hi there, welcome to my profile! I am a second year Mathematics undergraduate currently working at a first class degree. As someone who has sat GCSEs and A-Levels before, I am very familiar with the exam technique and the layout of the exam papers. I achieved A*AB at A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics respectively. I have experience in tutoring students from all age groups, including one with SEND. I am currently accepting new students and I am very flexible in the hours that I tutor.
I love Maths because it embodies problem solving. It is very useful in the real world and is a core skill that employers look for when you apply for a job. I find a lot of satisfaction when solving complex problems in maths. The joy I get when solving a difficult problem is unlike any other subject.
My approach to tutoring is through making sure the student masters exam technique. Past papers are the most useful tool to accelerate learning, as it directly prepares the student for the questions they will face in the real exam.

My lessons will be very focused on the student. As someone who has sat GCSEs and A-Levels, I am very familiar with the revision techniques that work and don't work. From my past experience I believe that doing past papers and exam style questions is the best way to revise. The first part of the lesson will be going through any homework that I have set, and if it is a free meeting/first lesson I will spend the first ten minutes getting to know the student. After each topic I will do a quick recap on the content that they have learnt to solidify their understanding and identify any gaps they have in their knowledge. Regular progress checks are key for me to keep track of a student's progress but it is also helpful for the student and the parent to see if they are learning at a good pace. To encourage learning, I make sure to keep the lessons fun, engaging and personalised. Each lesson I deliver is different for each student.
