About Henry
I am a computer science/philosophy student, and gave maths lessons for two years between 2016 and 2017 before taking a break from tutoring. I was well-versed in teaching from my time teaching lessons in cadets at high school, and brought that experience and my knowledge of both STEM and Humanities fields to the lessons. I taught six students from years spanning all of high school.

My general approach to tutoring is centred around student engagement and independent thought. This means favouring asking them questions that prompt them to find answers for themselves over simply telling them answers. I usually structure lessons as follows, where the student and I have agreed on a particular topic beforehand:
- Ask student if they have any questions whatsoever about the topic in general or particular problems they want answered. Respond by answering their question about the topic, then writing a sample question to test their comprehension, or aiding them with a particular problem by asking them questions that prompt them to figure out the answer for themselves.
- Give my summary or explanation of the topic (depending on how well the student already knows it before the lesson), giving the student a sample question (written beforehand) for each pertinent feature of the topic I am discussing.
- Ask the student if they have any further questions, respond accordingly.
- Give the student a sheet of sample questions for review that I have written or collated from textbooks.
- Write on the spot additional questions for any particular area of the topic the student isn't grasping, making these questions test that the student isn't making the same mistakes they did earlier.
- In any additional time, go through the student's textbook or homework together.
