About NICK
Had experience of external requirements as was Director of Public Examinations. My geology department was awarded best school in the U.K. by 'The Good Schools Guide' on the back of its 'A' level results!
Interested in geographical and geological educational issues, especially those impacting on SW England.
Most sporting activities and currently involved in gig rowing, having rowed in the World Championships in the Scilly Isles several times.
Formerly Head of Soccer at my previous school.
I, like my parents, was born and bred on the banks of the River Dart in Devon, where a village community was the centre of the river's net salmon fishing and have written a published work ("A Rural Legacy Lost") on the largely forgotten culture, lifestyle and dialect associated with that fishing.
I have been invited to give a number of talks on the book, including the Devon Rural Archive and The Devon Family History Society.
My professional background involved teaching geology and geography at a senior independent school, having a first degree in both subjects and also an M.A. in geology education, also having carried out PhD research in education.
