About Carla

Hi, I’m Carla, a friendly, patient and approachable TEFL-certified English tutor from Ireland.

I hold a Level 5 TEFL qualification, which has given me a strong foundation in teaching English to learners of different levels. I am passionate about helping students develop their English skills and, most importantly, feel confident using English in everyday situations.

Before becoming a tutor, I worked for several years in customer service, banking and relationship management. These roles involved communicating with people from a wide range of backgrounds, listening carefully to their needs and finding the best way to explain information clearly. I also regularly trained new members of staff, created guides and learning materials, and supported colleagues as they developed their skills. I really enjoyed this part of my work and it encouraged me to pursue teaching professionally.

I am also passionate about travel and different cultures. I have traveled extensively across Europe, Asia and Australia, where I had the opportunity to meet people from many different backgrounds and learn about different cultures and ways of life. These experiences have made me more open-minded, adaptable and understanding, and I love sharing knowledge while learning from others.

I believe that learning should be enjoyable and that every student learns differently. I will take the time to understand your goals and adapt my lessons to suit your individual needs, whether you want to improve your conversation skills, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or overall confidence.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is friendly, patient and student-centred. I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported and confident enough to ask questions and make mistakes. I aim to create relaxed and engaging lessons that are adapted to each student’s individual goals, interests and learning style.

As a Level 5 TEFL-qualified English tutor, I have been trained in teaching speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. I use a variety of techniques depending on the student’s needs, including conversation practice, guided questions, practical examples, vocabulary building, pronunciation exercises and structured activities. I particularly enjoy helping students develop their confidence in speaking English and applying what they learn to real life situations.

Lessons would typically be 45–60 minutes, although I am happy to adapt the length depending on the student’s age, level and individual requirements.

Although I am at the beginning of my professional tutoring career, I have several years of experience in customer service, banking and relationship management, where communication and supporting others were a major part of my roles. I have also trained new employees, created clear learning guides and supported colleagues as they learned new systems and processes. I thoroughly enjoyed the teaching and mentoring aspect of these responsibilities, which encouraged me to complete my TEFL qualification and pursue tutoring.

My lessons are suitable for learners from beginner to advanced level, and I am happy to work with kids, teenagers and adults. I can support students who want to improve their general English, conversational skills, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or confidence when speaking.

I also have a strong passion for travel and different cultures, having travelled extensively across Europe, Asia and Australia. I enjoy bringing real life topics, cultural experiences and conversation into lessons, making learning English both useful and enjoyable.
