About Calvin

Hi, I’m Calvin! I’m 32, born in Portugal, and now living in South Africa. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats—tour guide, Portuguese culture guide, bartender, server, arborist, baker, administrative assistant, and executive assistant. These roles taught me adaptability, patience, organization, and most importantly, the value of connecting with people. I’m also passionate about giving back, and I’ve spent time volunteering with kids, as well as doing public speaking—experiences that strengthened my communication skills and love for inspiring others. Outside of work, I’m a proud Manchester United supporter and a bit of a nerd at heart—I enjoy Pokémon, Star Wars, Magic: The Gathering, and plenty of other geeky hobbies. I also love traveling, hiking in nature, and spending time at the beach with my two Belgian Malinois, who are my pride and joy. Family, my girlfriend, and my faith as a follower of Christ are at the center of my life. I’m covered in tattoos (with no plans to stop anytime soon!) and, of course, I love good food—because who doesn’t? I believe that with focus and determination, students can achieve anything they set their minds to, and my goal is to guide and encourage them every step of the way.

Hi, I’m Calvin — a passionate, TEFL-certified English tutor who believes learning should be fun, practical, and confidence-building.
My lessons focus on real conversations rather than memorizing rules. I use interactive methods like role-playing, guided speaking, and listening exercises to help you sound natural and comfortable in everyday English. Each session is tailored to your goals — whether you’re preparing for travel, business, exams, or simply want to speak more fluently.
A typical lesson starts with a short warm-up conversation, followed by targeted practice based on your level and interests. We end with pronunciation tips and feedback so you leave each class feeling more confident.
What sets me apart is my patient, encouraging approach — I meet you where you are and make English feel easy and enjoyable. My lessons are perfect for beginners to intermediate learners who want to build real-world communication skills while having fun along the way.
