About Ruby
I am currently finishing my third year as a full time undergraduate student at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. I began my degree studying English Literature, Creative Writing and Journalism and plan to complete a degree in English this time next year! I am most fascinated in the study of Modern Literature, recently completing a class on the American Novel at a first degree level. I love the freedom and creativity in the subject, recently writing my first screenplay under the tutoring of screenwriter Clair Nicol. My passion for English started in secondary school where I achieved an award for the best grade across the school during my year studying advanced higher. Though it’s a typical English student answer, my favourite novel has to be 1984 by George Orwell (closely followed by Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado)! I really love helping others see this same passion and have supported others before through secondary exams, including my brother who has just been accepted to Edinburgh University:)

I am passionate about the study of English and hope to instil this into those I teach. I have a gentle, considerate teaching style along with a huge respect for those who strive to improve their knowledge. I will try to be very formulated in my teaching, focusing in on the areas that need worked on most. Most of all, I want to make English a fun subject and ensure that the lessons will create a comfortable environment and leave the student feeling accomplished and more confident every time!
