About Abigail
I am a Third Year Biochemistry Student at the University of York and I am currently averaging a first. I have done Biology GCSE and A-level, getting an A* in both, so I have a depth of knowledge in both. Having done these qualifications recently, I have knowledge of methods of learning that are effective for gaining high grades in these exams. As Biochemistry is my degree, I am particularly confident with the molecular parts of the course, but also have a high level of knowledge on the other aspects.
I have experience mentoring First Year Biology students in Molecular Biology. This involved development of creative activities related to aspects of the Biology course for groups of students to participate in to increase their understanding of concepts.

My lessons are aimed at GSCE and A-level students. I will be giving lessons aimed at increasing the students understanding of key concepts related to the courses. This will be focused on using diagrams, as this was something that really helped me to gain and understanding of Biology. I will also be focusing on using practice questions, as this is one of the best ways to prepare for the exam. My teaching will take an interactive approach, helping students work through questions rather than just telling them the answer. I believe this is the best way to learn.
