About Lara
Hi! I'm twenty five years old and currently studying English Literature with a specialism in Medieval Literature at UCL. Before I resumed my studies, I worked as a chef and a paralegal, as well as tutoring. I've had a varied life so far and think that I am a much better teacher as a result. I have chosen to tutor because, as cliche as it sounds, I am truly passionate about my subject. I find genuine joy in teaching and hope to impart some of that to my students. I have always succeeded academically, but have struggled occasionally with conventional teaching styles, as I have ADHD. I have learnt so much about adaptive teaching because of this, and believe that I can therefore provide personal yet professional tutoring to anyone that needs it.

I have a pretty informal teaching style, and focus on making sure my students feel comfortable enough with me to truly flourish. My lesson style varies, and once I have had a chance to know how my students learn best I adapt my methods to suit them. I aim to provide flexible and accomodating tutoring, and am happy to work with my students to ensure this. I have personal experience in working around dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism, and have encorporated this into my teaching style. A typical lesson length would normally be around an hour and a half, but I am more than happy to adapt this based on my student's individual needs- either lengthening it to include a "warm up" to help to encourage an appropriate mindset, or shortening for anyone who struggles to focus for that long. I have also found great results by incorporating breaks into my lessons to account for this difficulty. Overall, my teaching style is dedicated and adaptive, and I hope to work together with my students to ensure they get the best results for them as individual learners.
