About Sofia
I have always enjoyed learning, which is one of the reasons I feel confident teaching the subjects I offer. I study Biology and Biomed at Trinity College Dublin after completing the IB Diploma with 42 points, and I genuinely enjoy understanding subjects in depth and helping others do the same.
What I enjoy most about teaching is finding ways to help students truly understand and appreciate subjects that I personally enjoy. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I usually begin lessons with a standard structure and then adapt depending on the student’s responses, confidence level, and preferences. For some students, this may mean making lessons more interactive through games and challenges, while for others it may involve using more visual explanations, discussion-based learning, or hands-on problem solving.
I have previously tutored family friends’ children and helped them both improve academically and feel more confident in their subjects. For example, last summer I taught Spanish to a final-year high school student preparing for exams. He improved significantly and said he enjoyed the lessons far more than his classes at school. I have also regularly helped friends understand difficult concepts and prepare for exams throughout school and university.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help students achieve better results, but also to create a comfortable learning environment where they feel engaged, supported, and capable of improving.

My lessons are aimed at high school students and below. I usually begin by teaching a concept, then move into practice exercises, switching between explanation and problem-solving throughout the lesson. This helps avoid fatigue from too much continuous listening or too much independent work at once.
To reinforce learning, I often finish with a final recap activity or exercise that connects the topic to a real-world example or turns it into a small game to make revision more engaging and memorable. Although for younger students, or students who learn better through interaction, more of the lesson activities can include game-based elements to keep lessons engaging and enjoyable.
Lessons are typically between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours, depending on the student’s age, concentration, goals, and the subject being covered. Depending on the student’s energy level and the lesson length, I may also include short 2–5 minute breaks to help maintain focus.
I previously tutored family friends’ children, helping them prepare for exams and better understand difficult concepts across different subjects.
