About Grant
I have played in an array of folk bands through the years, exploring different styles of traditional cultural sounds. Today I am in the process of exploring the technological side of the music industry, as I am attending SAIT College in Calgary for sound engineering.

The music styles that I play are historically taught as an oral tradition. While it certainly does not hurt to be able to read and write musical notation, it is not necessarily advantages to be able to do so when learning traditional styles. There are subtle inflexions and accents in cultural music styles that cannot be translated into written form. My method when studying a specific style of music is simple: Listen! Access to endless archives of recorded musical history from all around the world is as readily available as ever. Once you know what the kind of music you want to play sounds like, then you can begin to slowly learn the physical techniques required to play it. In any given lesson I will provide demonstrations of these different styles and techniques upon request.

Grant is a friend I've had for years who is one of those people who can pick up an instrument and learn it quickly. In the years I've known him I've seen him learn and master many instruments from Guitar, mandolin, bazouki, fiddle, banjo and harmonica. He has a focus like I've never seen before and an attention to detail that has helped him become the great teacher that he is. In the time I've spent with Grant my guitar playing, mandolin playing and harmonica playing has improved substantially. I've been using techniques he taught me for years and it has dramatically changed the way I play. I've even passed on his knowledge to others to help them improve.
I highly recommend grant to anyone looking to expand their knowledge of music and become a better player. But I also invite you to seek his wisdom with all things music related, because he can not only teach you technique, he can give you the history behind the technique.Grant is a great man and a wonderful musician..
