As a Civil Engineering student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I have a strong foundation in mathematics and problem-solving, and I am confident in my ability to help students succeed.
I understand that every student learns differently, and I take the time to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges without feeling judged or frustrated. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence, independence, and belief in their own abilities.

Hi! I’m Mckenzie, a Civil Engineering student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a strong background in mathematics. I understand that math can sometimes feel overwhelming, so my goal is to make each lesson clear, comfortable, and easy to understand.
My teaching approach is patient, personalized, and focused on understanding rather than memorization. I am especially experienced in working with children with learning disabilities and understand that school can sometimes feel frustrating or overwhelming. I adjust my explanations to each student’s individual learning style and use step-by-step examples, visual explanations, practice problems, and real-world applications to help students understand not only how to solve a problem, but why the solution works.
A typical lesson begins by reviewing concepts the student is struggling with and identifying specific areas that need improvement. We then work through examples together, gradually moving toward independent practice. I encourage students to ask questions and make mistakes because I believe that is an important part of learning. We finish by reviewing the most important concepts and identifying what the student should continue practicing.
As an engineering student, I use math extensively in my own coursework, which allows me to explain concepts from a practical perspective and show students how the skills they are learning can be used beyond the classroom.
I offer tutoring for K–12 students, including elementary, middle, and high school mathematics. I can help with homework, test preparation, reviewing difficult concepts, building foundational skills, and gaining confidence in math.
My goal is not simply to help students get the right answer; it is to help them become more confident and independent problem-solvers while building academic confidence in themselves.
