About Kali
Hello! My name's Kali! I'm a second year English major at the University of Guelph! I'm currently pursuing my BA in English, in hopes of one day teaching the subject to large classrooms of excited students. Throughout high school, I maintained honors, earned scholarships, and received early acceptance into various universities. However, I am most proud of the leadership skills I gained there. My teachers paved the way for me, and through observing them, and diving head first into almost every book that I cross paths with, I am confident in my teaching abilities as well as my ability to build healthy relationships between students and learning!

As a tutor, I take the time to learn the individual needs of my students. By doing this, I can ensure that I'm providing them with the most effective lesson possible. I typically work with elementary and high school level students. Having experienced that curriculum myself, not too long ago, along with my newfound expertise due to my time as an English literature student, I'm more than qualified to assist in teaching youth and adolescents grammar, reading, and writing techniques. Lessons vary drastically between students, depending on their needs and level. A lesson on essay writing may begin with me getting the student to read a couple of essays appropriate for their level, and then we would move on to specific writing techniques and details, I would then work with the student to apply the learnings to a piece of their own work. The goal of my approach is not to just help earn students better grades, but to expand their understanding of language, and hopefully encourage a drive for learning.
