About Sarah
My name is Sarah, I am an undergraduate student at the University of Durham reading Archaeology and Ancient Civilisations BA. In my first year I achieved a first, which demonstrates my ability to write and study effectively. Prior to university, I completed eight National 5 (GCSE equivalent) exams achieving all A grades; five Higher exams A* level; three Advanced Higher (A-Level Equivalent) to A* grade. Alongside completing my school exams, I helped a number of my classmates with coursework and exam preparations which I believe resulted in them achieving higher grades than they had initially been projected. Furthermore, I have been volunteering throughout this year with young people from a local high school to Durham through an archaeology project, and am also a certified Level 1 tennis instructor so know how to effectively communicate with young people. Lastly, I am super friendly but also driven and organised which I hope should be a good combination to fulfil academic goals for others.

I believe that it is important to assess the strengths and weaknesses of any prospective student prior to planning teaching. This would involve doing some practice questions to test knowledge and technique as well as asking the student where they themselves think that they are struggling. From this, I would propose continuing with flexible 45 minutes to 1.5 hour lessons depending on availability which would be planned to work towards the deadlines and improve areas identified.
Throughout my school career, as a high achieving student, many of my friends and classmates sought me out for help and this has given me experience of tutoring people from National 5 or GCSE level to SQA Higher level.
