About Michael
I have an intense desire to learn and teach about music from different cultures. Growing up I enjoyed classical music, and began taking violin lessons at the age of 8. I never desired to be an on-stage world-class soloist, but rather re-create my favorite melodies from Middle-Eastern cultural music. My lessons growing up were always hours filled with boring technique and playing exactly as the page is written, and in turn I lacked the fundamental enjoyment of just playing the music. In more recent years, I discovered this enjoyment and now desire to spread the knowledge for new-comers who find it rather scary and daunting to learn a new instrument.

My teaching approach varies depending on your learning style. My goal as a teacher is less to make you a world-class violinist and more for you to learn to have fun playing music for yourself and for others. I will not be assigning you intense and difficult concertos that you have no desire to learn, but rather we will work on your favorite songs that you enjoy listening to. If you enjoy music, and you desire playing the violin to make music for yourself and others, then these lessons are for you!
