About Emily
I like teaching others, and have experience from peer mentoring schemes at school. I want to share what I've learnt from this experience: despite my problems with anxiety, I achieved 3 A* A Level grades and 10 A* IGCSEs - and I want to help other people to be successful in the stressful exam system that we have.
I also have experience with non-exam essay writing: in 2015 I independently researched and wrote an essay for the Trinity College Cambridge Robson History Prize - which was highly commended as 1 of 11 from over 200 entries in the competition. This discipline is something my undergraduate study has extended. Coursework is something I really enjoy, and I'd love to help you be successful with it and to have fun doing it too!

When in school, I participated in peer tutoring, which I enjoyed a lot: I like making friends through teaching - discursive study is a much better approach than simply telling someone to go over things.
In the same vein, I like inviting people to make something out of the things they are studying: for example, if you were learning about a particular rhyme scheme, or rhetorical technique, then I might ask you to have a go at writing using that rhyme scheme - I've found that it has helped me in the past to remember things! It's also quite fun - and funny if you choose to make it so :)
I can provide help with comprehension, literary and rhetorical terminology and techniques, coursework, time management (both in terms of exams and more generally, e.g. organising study) and more general support.
In the past I have had problems with anxiety around exams, and if that's something you have had or are having trouble with know that I will do everything I can to help you navigate this. Anxiety is horrible, but it can be managed with the right support - I hope I can be a part of this if it's something that you need!
My focus will always be on a one to one basis: we'll work out what you need specifically, and tailor the course to you!
