About Zeynep

Hi, I'm Zeynep! I'm a University of Edinburgh graduate and a native English speaker with a strong academic writing background, built over four years of report-heavy coursework in Ecological and Environmental Sciences. I've completed the IB and IELTS myself, so I understand these qualifications from a student's perspective, not just a teacher's. Throughout university, I regularly proofread and gave feedback on reports for friends and coursemates, and it's where I discovered how much I enjoy helping others sharpen their writing.

I offer support across a wide range of needs: proofreading and dissertation feedback for university students, IB English preparation, and reading and grammar foundations for younger learners. Whatever stage you're at, I take a patient, structured approach, and I'm genuinely invested in helping you feel more confident in your own writing.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Zeynep, a recent University of Edinburgh graduate and native English speaker with a strong background in academic writing. My degree in Ecological and Environmental Sciences was heavily report-writing focused throughout all four years, so I've had extensive practice structuring and refining scientific and academic writing. I've also completed the IB myself and sat IELTS, so I understand both qualifications from the student's side. Throughout university, I regularly proofread and gave feedback on reports for friends and coursemates, which is where I first developed a real interest in helping others improve their writing.

My approach is practical and student-led: I start by understanding your goals for the piece of writing or exam, then work through structure, argument, clarity and grammar together rather than just handing back corrections. For proofreading and dissertation support, I focus on strengthening your own voice and academic style rather than rewriting your work for you. For IB English, I draw on my own experience with the qualification to help build confidence with textual analysis, essay structure, and exam technique.

Lessons typically run 45-60 minutes, though this can flex depending on whether we're working through a full essay, prepping for an exam, or doing a focused proofreading session.

I can happily work with a wide age range, from younger children building up their English reading and grammar skills, through to school and university-age students, including IB candidates and undergraduates needing dissertation or report support. I especially enjoy working with younger kids and helping them grow in confidence with reading and grammar. Lessons welcome both one-off sessions (e.g. proofreading a single piece of work) and ongoing regular lessons.
