About Usama

I have been giving lessons for 4 years, originally unpaid helping out fellow students in the same year or younger years during my free time. I then started charging for regular tuition to students within my school and expanding my network by word of mouth after I started university.

I have taught a broad range of subjects to over 50 students, of which more than 30 have been paid tuition classes. My previous students have mainly consisted of KS3 and GCSE level, although I have taught 10 students at AS or A level.

My students have achieved very successful results and all have been very happy with the tuition provided. 7 of my students have achieved at least an A at GCSE Economics, of which 4 have achieved an A*. 2 of my students have achieved at least an A at A level.

I have tutored 2 students who have gone on to study at Oxbridge and over 10 are currently at Russell Group universities.

I am a final year university student studying Medical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London. I give Economics lessons to students studying from primary school education up to A-level.

I am very flexible with my technique and method of instruction as I feel it is very important to tailor-make my teaching in order to best suit the student. I have a very personal approach to my teaching and make it a priority to engage effectively with the student and maintain a good working relationship.

My lesson structure is simple in that it is similar to school teaching but with a lot more attention given to the student and any necessary changes can be made in response. I teach topic by topic and cover each topic at the end with a summary lesson and a small test. Any weaknesses or gaps in knowledge are then focused on to ensure the student has a broad an understanding as possible. Every 4 or 5 topics, depending on the amount of content, I prepare a larger test for the student followed by revision lessons focusing on their weakness towards exam time and one final test covering each topic taught throughout the year.

I prefer to teach the student throughout the year as it corresponds with lessons in school and can strengthen their understanding better and it is also less intense, something I find students much prefer. I am able to teach just in preparation for exams but I find it to be a less effective method as it limits the amount of content able to be taught and usually on the gaps in knowledge can be taught in depth, with the students' strengths usually honed and not seen as a priority.

I also think it's vital to be both patient and calm with the student as a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere is incredibly important to the student's success as the intake of knowledge and enjoyment of the subject increase if the student is comfortable and engaging.
