About Naomie

I am a student at the University of Toronto, passionate about design and art—but one of my favorite subjects is English! I love reading and writing, and I have often helped others (even my older sister) write essays or even letters of interest! I like to establish a friendship with anyone I teach so that I know what you like and can use that in my teaching! I am currently a volunteer tutor at Youth Dream Canada so that experience has helped me refine my teaching skills.

About the lesson

I had a hard time keeping up with my teachers in school, so I totally understand what it’s like to need someone to break things down for you, step by step, and use the things you’re interested in to help you stay engaged. Therefore I apply that to my tutoring—I am patient and I tend to creatively cater the lesson to your needs and interests. I often ask students to suggest some stories that they want to read, for example, so that I can teach and keep the student engaged at the same time! Typical lessons start with discussion around literary techniques/grammar and punctuation/practicing sentence structure, then reading through a text followed by some questions. These lessons are for anyone from grades 1-12.
