About Paris

I am a Law student at the University of Birmingham with a passion for helping students master critical thinking, analytical writing, and textual evaluation. Studying a degree centred on precise argumentation, statutory analysis, and structured writing allows me to bring a highly disciplined and effective methodology to GCSE English Literature and Language.
My motivation for tutoring comes from knowing that English is not about guesswork—it is about mastering clear, repeatable systems for essay construction and literary analysis. Having navigated high-level academic writing and rigorous assessment structures, I know exactly what it takes to transform complex ideas into articulate, top-band answers.
I aim to build real confidence in my students by demystifying mark schemes and equipping them with the practical analytical tools required to succeed, whether they are aiming to pass comfortably or push for Grade 8 and 9 marks.
Outside of academics, I maintain a strong interest in educational equity, public speaking, and community initiatives, ensuring my approach to tutoring remains engaging, approachable, and encouraging.

Teaching Methodology & Approach
My tutoring focuses on breaking down complex literary analysis and source evaluation into structured, repeatable frameworks. Rather than relying on memorised answers, I teach students how to construct high-scoring essays using clear analytical methods, precise essay planning, and targeted vocabulary. We work extensively with real past papers and mark schemes across major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) so students understand exactly what examiners look for.
Lesson Structure
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes (with 90-minute sessions available for intensive revision). Each session is tailored to the student’s immediate needs, usually divided into three core parts:
1. Concept Review & Analysis: Annotating unseen texts or unpacking core literary works, themes, and characters.
2. Essay Construction: Drafting arguments using structured essay frameworks (e.g., Thesis → Evidence → Analytical Breakdown → Context).
3. Timed Practice & Feedback: Applying techniques directly to exam-style questions with line-by-line constructive feedback.
Experience & Qualifications
As a university student with a strong background in rigorous textual analysis, analytical writing, and argument construction, I bring a practical, high-level perspective to essay-based subjects. Having navigated the GCSE and higher education assessment processes firsthand, I understand how to bridge the gap between basic understanding and Grade 7–9 performance.
Who These Lessons Are For
These sessions are specifically designed for KS4 students (ages 14–16) preparing for their GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature exams. Whether a student is struggling to structure basic essays or aiming to boost their grade from a 6 to an 8 or 9, lessons are adapted to match their target grade and personal learning style
