About Bethany
I am a university student working towards a Bachelor's Degree in music. I have played the piano for over 16 years, and have a diverse knowledge of classical music. I have performed in festivals and piano competitions, and played for weddings and events. I have played the piano all my life, and have been continually inspired by the joy the piano brings me. The journey of selecting, practicing, and mastering a song is fulfilling and rewarding. What I love the most though is the feeling of playing a mastered song, it feels like flying, there is no freedom like it. I wish to share this joy and passion with everyone I can. I believe that piano lessons should not be rigid or boring, but fun, interesting and exciting, and I will display this through flexible lesson plans designed to suit the needs and goals of the individual.

I can teach anyone from preschool to adult, beginner to somewhat advanced. Skills that will be taught during lessons include: piano technique, theory, rhythm, improvisation, history of classical music, and of course repertoire of a variety of styles and genres. However, skills taught will differ based on age, preferences, and personal goals. Lesson plans will differ based on age and experience. This is an example lesson plan for an intermediate student of any age: - warm up, could be technique (scales/chords), improvisation, or finger strengthening exercises - review of last lesson - starting a new song, will include brief history (if classical), musical analysis, a breakdown of the challenging components, and a discussion on the most efficient and effective practice methods - short music theory lesson This is an example lesson plan for a preschooler: - starting with a fun song - review of last lesson - clapping some simple rhythms - introducing a new concept and playing games which will establish the concept - allowing for creative free time (this could be drawing, improvising on the piano, or whatever allows them to explore the world of music best) - lots of singing and playing songs I believe the lesson should be fashioned to best meet the students needs and goals so the above lesson plans are only examples of how a lesson could look, as I make my lesson plans as unique as the students I teach. Perfect! One of the best piano teachers I've ever had, would definitely recommend!
Perfect! I have really enjoyed taking my piano lessons with Bethany. She is kind, supportive, knowledgeable, skilled, patient and understanding. She often shares tips, tricks, and experience that she has either picked up over the years or has learned at university. She includes sight reading, rhythm reading, ear training, technical training (scales etc.), and song analysis in every lesson which other teachers often overlook, forget, or skip - especially with adult students that are not taking an exam. I am really glad that I found her, and I look forward to every lesson! My piano skill has improved under her training. You won't be disappointed if you sign up with Bethany - she is my online teacher for life!
