About Hibiki

Hello! I'm a Chemistry student at the University of Tokyo, currently studying abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

Before coming to the UK, I worked as an instructor at a specialised preparatory school for students aiming to enter the University of Tokyo, one of Japan's most prestigious and competitive universities. I also have experience as a private online tutor.

Studying at the University of Tokyo and now at the University of Glasgow has given me the opportunity to explore Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in depth. I am also actively involved in scientific research, which has further strengthened my analytical and problem-solving skills.

Having experienced the challenges of preparing for competitive university entrance examinations myself, I understand how demanding studying can be. I hope to use both my academic background and teaching experience to help students feel more confident in their abilities.

I am patient, approachable and genuinely enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, no matter how simple or difficult they may seem.

I particularly welcome Japanese-speaking students, including those living overseas who wish to continue studying in Japanese or follow the Japanese curriculum.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting your academic journey!

My teaching philosophy is to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts rather than simply memorising formulae and solutions. I believe that understanding *why* something works is the key to solving unfamiliar problems and developing independent thinking skills.

Teaching Methodology

I tailor each lesson to the student's individual level, learning style and academic goals. I focus on explaining difficult concepts clearly and intuitively, using examples and step-by-step reasoning to make even challenging topics accessible.

Rather than simply showing students how to solve a problem, I encourage them to think through the reasoning themselves. I also adapt my explanations depending on their understanding, ensuring that they build a solid foundation before moving on to more advanced material.

Lesson Structure and Duration

Lessons typically last 60–90 minutes, although the duration and content can be adjusted to suit each student's needs.

A typical lesson involves reviewing key concepts, working through problems together and discussing different approaches to solving them. I also help students identify their weaknesses and develop effective strategies for improvement.

Qualifications and Teaching Experience

I am a Chemistry student at the University of Tokyo, currently studying abroad at the University of Glasgow.

In Japan, I worked as a tutor at a specialised preparatory school for students aiming to enter the University of Tokyo. I also have experience providing one-to-one online tutoring.

Through my university studies and scientific research, I have developed a strong background in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, which allows me to explain these subjects from both theoretical and practical perspectives.

Who My Lessons Are For

I offer lessons for students of various ages and abilities, from those who need help with schoolwork and fundamental concepts to those preparing for challenging university entrance examinations.

I particularly welcome Japanese-speaking students living in the UK or overseas, students following the Japanese school curriculum, and those preparing for university entrance examinations in Japan.

All lessons are conducted in Japanese, allowing students to study Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry comfortably in their native language.
