About Dax
My teaching approach integrates rhythm-based techniques to help students develop a strong sense of timing, energy, and groove in their singing. I believe rhythm is not just a backdrop—it’s a powerful tool for expression, especially in genres like gospel, funk, and jazz. Through exercises in beat subdivision, syncopation, and rhythmic phrasing, I guide students to feel the pulse of the music in their bodies and voices. We use clapping, foot tapping, and body movement to internalize the beat, making rhythm a lived and felt experience. For students who learn best through movement or emotional release, I create space for them to explore rhythm as a bridge to vocal control and dynamic expression. I encourage improvisation and instinctive phrasing to unlock creative confidence and vocal freedom. In jazz and funk, we focus on groove and swing feel; in gospel, we explore call-and-response, energy shaping, and vocal drive. I also introduce metronome practice and looped backing tracks to help students lock into tempo and stay rhythmically grounded. Rhythm becomes the foundation for more accurate entrances, sustained energy, and expressive storytelling. This approach works especially well for singers who connect through intuition, physicality, or creative flow. With consistency and the right techniques, students develop both technical precision and soulful phrasing. Rhythm brings their voice to life—and helps them sing with power, presence, and joy.

I am a dedicated singing tutor with over 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music, with an emphasis in Voice. My teaching is rooted in building strong vocal foundations for students preparing for vocal exams, diplomas, and conservatory auditions. I specialize in Classical, Opera, Art Song, and Contemporary Vocal styles, guiding students through a structured and supportive journey.
Each lesson is tailored to develop tone placement, improve resonance control, and enhance breath support. I place a strong emphasis on diction, using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) to train clarity and articulation across languages. My approach also nurtures musical phrasing, helping students shape expressive and stylistically appropriate interpretations.
Whether you're polishing a Baroque aria or exploring modern vocal textures, I provide the tools and insight needed to sing with confidence and authenticity. Lessons are grounded in vocal health, discipline, and clear musical goals. I work closely with each student to refine technique and expand vocal range at a steady, personalized pace.
