About Robert
I have worked as a freelance writer for nearly all of my adult life—but I always remember the teachers who shaped my early efforts. My work includes books, blogs, and podcasts, as well as award-winning magazine articles, podcasts, films, and stage plays. I have taught for several major universities, and I love working with writers of all genres, skill levels, and ages.

William Butler Yeats put it best: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Echoing this sentiment, I rely heavily on Socratic discussions with student to embellish their understanding of writing and literature. My workshops are lively and collaborative experiences, and students walk away excited to express their ideas with words.
Instead of telling you what to write, my goal is to help you realize your vision, through exercises and suggestions. I strive to use the “yes, and” approach of improvisation, so that writers feel supported throughout the process.
