About Alison

I have a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, a PhD in Neuropharmacology and a Certificate of Teaching in Higher Education (Pg Cert HE). I have many years of teaching experience within FE & HE institutions. I thrive on interaction with students of all ages and finding individuals who make me think! I most want to bring my experience both in the world of drug discovery and academic teaching and research to you. I like not only to teach but also to use my rich background to give scientific careers advice. I have tutored children-young people-adults over a really wide age spectrum. I have my own young people (1 secondary & 1 post secondary school-aged) myself and they have taught me how important a good tutor, that you manage to click with, is like gold-dust!

About the lesson

My interactive lessons are very much tailored to your needs & upbeat. I get to know what style of learner you are & I can use lectures, interactive quizzes, discussions & real life working examples to explain concepts from a diversity of viewpoints in the style which you will be most effective for you. I have taught in HE for 25 years and also worked in the Pharmaceutical industry developing drugs for psychiatric conditions. I can teach basic science at GCSE & A-level, and more specific aspects of pharmaceutical science, Pharmacy, pharmacology, biomedical & veterinary sciences at undergraduate & postgraduate level. I have taught at 2 Universities in the UK (Schools of Pharmacy) & 1 college of FE (Veterinary Science)+ 1 University in the USA (School of Psychology).
