As part of my International Baccalaureate studies I took up learning Spanish ab initio. As a totally new language, I naturally struggled with some areas. Some, such as the Preterite tense, I found easy to learn. But some, such as the Subjunctive, were far harder to master. In Year 13 I knew using the Subjunctive would improve my writing, speaking and overall understanding of Spanish so I asked Muhammad, a Higher-Level Spanish student, to help me with this task. This he did very willingly and very well, offering me the same techniques that worked for him when learning that tense and showing me how he personally mastered it. This included useful acronyms and lots of practice, and my confidence began to grow.
