I teach professionally at Coventry University. I have a very good relationship with my students demonstrated by high student satisfaction scores and pass rates. I do enjoy the light bulb moments that students have when helping them through point of difficulty.

About the lesson

As an experienced university engineering lecturer with a PhD in Engineering, I bring a wealth of teaching experience, subject knowledge and enthusiasm to GCSE and A-level Mathematics and Physics tuition. My aim is to make these subjects accessible, engaging and enjoyable, while helping students achieve their full academic potential.

My teaching philosophy is simple: **understanding is far more important than memorising formulae and methods.** I believe that when students genuinely understand why something works, they become more confident, independent and capable of tackling unfamiliar examination questions.

One of the advantages of my engineering and investment banking background is that I can demonstrate how mathematics and physics are applied in the real world. Whether explaining algebra, calculus, mechanics, electricity or forces, I use practical examples and visual explanations to bring difficult concepts to life.

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student. I begin by identifying areas of strength and topics requiring improvement, before developing a structured approach that builds knowledge and confidence progressively.

A typical lesson involves a short review of previous learning, a clear explanation of a key concept, worked examples and guided problem-solving. Students then tackle questions independently, with constructive feedback to help them recognise mistakes and improve their techniques. As examinations approach, we place greater emphasis on past papers, examination strategies, time management and understanding mark schemes.

I recognise that students learn at different speeds and in different ways. Some need help rebuilding confidence in fundamental mathematical skills, while others benefit from more demanding questions designed to achieve grades 8–9 at GCSE or A/A* at A-level. My teaching adapts to both.

I particularly enjoy helping students overcome the belief that they are simply 'not good at maths or physics'. Often, a different explanation, a practical example or a more logical breakdown of a problem can make all the difference.

My goal is not just to improve examination results, but to develop genuine understanding, curiosity and confidence. I want students to leave each lesson feeling that something which previously seemed difficult now makes sense.
