About Liza
Hi! I'm Liza — a chess instructor with 10+ years of teaching experience, based in Russia. I hold a Woman Fide Master title and have spent the past several years helping young players fall in love with the game while building real, lasting skill.
I also have a university degree in philology and speak fluent English, which means I can explain even complex chess ideas in clear, simple language — useful if you're looking for a coach who communicates easily with international students.

Most of my students are kids, and I've learned that teaching chess to children is a very particular craft — it's not just about openings and tactics, it's about keeping them curious, patient, and confident even when they lose. My lessons are structured but playful: we work through tactics, calculation, and basic strategy step by step, always adjusted to the child's pace and attention span, with plenty of encouragement along the way.
What I focus on:

♟️ Teaching opening principles without rote memorization
♟️ Helping young players develop patience and resilience after losses
♟️ Making lessons genuinely enjoyable, not just educational
Lessons format: 1-on-1 online lessons, tailored to your child's level and goals — whether that's learning the basics, preparing for their first tournament, or breaking through a rating plateau.
