About Charl
My name is Charl. I’m from Cape Town, South Africa. I started Flimm Flammm Private Tutoring, because I'm passionate about people and genuinely interested in helping students improve their English.
I believe teaching isn’t just about ingraining information into students’ minds to memorise. It's about providing them with the tools they need to change habits.
Experience:
Over 12 years of teaching experience. Currently an online private tutor based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Worked in China and Taiwan as a Tutor, Teacher Trainer and Director of Special Projects.
Fluent in English, secured a Band 9 in IELTS Speaking.
I have extensive experience in developing course books and teaching materials.
Certifications:
TEFL certified.
Advanced AEAS course.
Advanced TOEFL course.
Received multiple teacher of the year awards while working in China.

I teach a variety of courses such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, CAE, Conversational and Business English.
I pride myself in helping my students achieve their goals, and in creating a positive learning environment.
I usually do a basic needs assessment first before determining what’s best for students. A needs assessment helps with determining language needs, goals and English level.
Tutoring packages are available, and the number of lessons are based on the needs of my students.
Online lessons are conducted through Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Tencent Meeting or any other suitable platform.
