About Hazel
I’m a singing tutor with over 6 years of experience and hold an Advanced Diploma in Singing. I specialize in teaching young children and early teens, using creative and playful methods to make learning fun. My lessons are filled with games, movement, and storytelling to help students grasp pitch, rhythm, and vocal basics naturally. I love incorporating folk songs, Disney favorites, and musicals into my sessions because they keep kids engaged and excited. My approach focuses on building confidence and sharpening listening skills, which are essential for any young singer’s growth. I believe every child’s voice is unique and deserves to be nurtured with care and age-appropriate techniques. Singing should always feel joyful, safe, and exciting. I create a warm, encouraging space where students feel comfortable exploring their voices without fear. Watching young singers discover their passion and improve is truly rewarding. I aim to inspire a lifelong love of music while supporting each child’s individual journey. Together, we make every lesson a joyful adventure in music-making. Focus on healthy vocal placement by feeling vibrations in your mask (the area around your nose and cheekbones), which helps reduce throat tension and supports clear tone. Balancing vocal goals with mental calm is essential. Before singing, take a few moments of mindful breathing—inhale slowly through your nose, exhale softly through your mouth. This centers your mind and relaxes your body. Use apps like VocalEase or Vanido to track your progress gently, avoiding pressure while celebrating growth. Mindfulness timers like Insight Timer can guide short meditations before practice, fostering joy and reducing performance anxiety. For breath control, tools such as Breathe+ or Pranayama offer guided breathwork that supports steady, relaxed airflow. Whether preparing for a solo or blending in a choir, focus on the joy of singing as a connection to yourself and others. Keep your voice cared for long-term by listening to its signals—rest when needed, and sing with kindness.
