About Damon
I’m a vocal tutor with over 5 years of experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. I specialize in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after time away. Whether you're joining a community choir, stepping up to the karaoke mic, or simply singing for your own joy, I create a supportive and low-pressure space to learn. My teaching focuses on breathwork, posture, vocal relaxation, and developing a healthy tone. I bring mindfulness into each session, helping students feel connected to their voices and their emotions. We take things step by step, always working at your pace. I teach a range of genres including Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult styles, depending on your personal taste and goals. Many of my students sing simply to feel better, reconnect with creativity, or build confidence in social settings. I encourage that deeply. Music is for everyone, and your voice deserves to be heard. Together, we’ll explore your sound, grow your skills, and enjoy the process. No pressure—just progress, self-expression, and fun. My singing lessons are warm, interactive, and always tailored to your creative goals. I work closely with students who want to develop as singer-songwriters, learn basic self-accompaniment on piano or guitar, and perform their own original material. Each session focuses on expressive delivery, strong melodic structure, and honest lyrical flow.
We explore vocal techniques that support your personal style—whether you're aiming for clarity, grit, or softness. I guide students through stylistic decisions, help them shape their sound, and support their growth with clear, motivating feedback. Recording vocal demos is a big part of my method, using simple setups that make the process accessible and fun.
We use creative prompts and collaborative exercises to keep your ideas flowing. My lessons also include tips for arranging songs and building confidence for live or recorded performances. I support church ensemble singers and artists crossing genres by helping them polish their skills while staying true to their musical identity.
