About Aidan

I'm Aidan, and I am currently studying to become a Primary School Teacher while working as an Educational Support worker in a Victorian Secondary School, supporting students with low-English speaking abilities and behavioural problems. I love sharing my passion for academic learning, so I believe I can have a positive impact on you or your child's development and helping them to achieve their specific learning goals.

I taught English in South Korea for 3.5 years at a reading, writing and literature academy between 2021 and 2025. As a result, I have developed excellent strategies to support the learning of reading comprehension, paragraph & essay writing, literary analysis and debating. Additionally, I graded and marked essays and presentations, so I can definitely support your child develop confidence in expressing and linking their ideas through writing, especially in essays.

My lessons include reading short texts and responding to different types of questions to build reading comprehension, critical thinking and inferencing skills. Students will also develop their writing skills by learning and applying new grammatical skills into their writing. Students will also learn how to write strong essays by learning how to write effective topic sentences, brainstorm ideas to support an argument, use transition words to logically connect ideas, use supporting evidence to support ideas and conclude ideas thoughtfully. Finally, students will also build debating and presentation skills by creating, supporting and defending arguments using different forms of logic, reasoning and supporting evidence based on the short texts they read.

About the lesson

*120 minutes for a reading and writing class together.

Lessons designed for primary school students:

Year 2-3: reading comprehension, sentence structure, grammar & punctuation & basic literary analysis. Designed for NAPLAN test prep.

Year 4-6: sentence structure, paragraph writing & introduction to essay writing, presentations, debating. (Depending on learning goals).

Year 7-9: personalised approach to interpreting and understanding essay prompts, brainstorming ideas and developing essay writing skills in preparation for VCE English.
