About Shantiay
Growing up on the Nashville circuit meant playing before I learned to read music. Gigging remains my primary job. After 9 years of performing, teaching became the natural next step for me.
I have taught 400 students who wanted to play contemporary music. My approach focuses on solid posture and correct hand position early on.
I make sure to cover pedaling technique and rhythm while we build up your accompaniment skills. I enjoy helping people build confidence in their own playing abilities. You can expect a relaxed environment while we work on your sight reading or classical repertoire.

Many students get stuck when scales and arpeggios feel like chores. Honestly, I found them boring too until I saw how they apply to real songs.
We will use 6 practice techniques to make these drills feel relevant to your goals. Dynamics and expression are how we make the instrument actually speak. I guide you through the process of connecting your internal rhythm to the keys. Once the timing feels solid, you will find it much easier to express what you hear in your head.
