About Gonçalo
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and my experience as a musician. I am originally from Portugal and have been an orchestra musician in Germany since 2012. I am currently the principal cellist in the Anhalt Philharmonic in Dessau. After playing for a year at the Staatstheater Orchester Kassel as an intern in the cello group, I then moved to Bremen and played solo cello as a deputy solo cello with the Bremen Philharmonic for 2 years. Before that I had experience as a student and a teacher. I started music relatively late in Portugal. When I was 12 I got my first cello lesson and it was immediately clear to me that music and playing the cello would be with me throughout my life. I was in a school specializing in music for 6 years. It was a very intense time in which you had to get to university level in 6 years. After that I studied in Amsterdam, London and Essen. After my studies, I decided to return to Portugal and work as a teacher there. I have taught at the most famous music schools in the north of Portugal, where most of the Portuguese musicians (including myself) have been trained. Former students of mine are currently studying in Portuguese universities and also Utrecht, Antwerp etc. I have experience with children from 6 to 18 years and adults at all levels. See you soon
