About Derek
With over 15 years of hands-on experience in computer technology, I specialize in teaching computers, computer hardware, and practical IT skills in a way that makes complex concepts easy to understand. My strength lies in breaking down technical topics into clear, actionable steps that empower students, clients, and teams to build confidence and real-world competence.
I have extensive experience building custom computers from the ground up — selecting components, assembling systems, optimizing performance, and troubleshooting hardware issues. From entry-level systems to high-performance workstations, I understand how to match hardware solutions to specific needs and budgets.
In addition to hardware expertise, I design and set up small local area networks (LANs), ensuring reliable connectivity, proper configuration, and secure infrastructure. Whether it’s setting up routers and switches, configuring IP addressing, or optimizing network performance, I bring practical, real-world knowledge to every project.
